You guys, it has been a hot minute since I last posted a Top Ten Tuesday on the blog. Seriously, it’s been since MARCH when I posted my top ten most anticipated books of Spring. So I’m just going to call it like it is and say that I am completely failing at blogging right now. Like a million percent, fall flat on my face failing. I PROMISE you that I’m trying to get back to my A game. It’s just that my summer was SO busy and, to be honest, I’m feeling a little tapped out creatively. So motivation and inspiration to blog has been pretty non-existent for a while now. Thankfully, today’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt really inspired me and I’m super excited to share my list of books that I’ve been wanting to read for ages! Oh, and apparently I have a big problem with series enders. I just can’t bring myself to read them! Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: Backlist Books”
The crew at The Broke and the Bookish have done it again with this week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt! I’ve never wished for a fully loaded gift card more than I have today. And when I say fully loaded…I mean FULLY loaded! I have been coveting these books and book sets forever…and I think it’s about time they found a spot on my shelves.
Even though I actually have more than FORTY books on this list, I decided to cheat just a bit and count any of the series I listed as ONE book. Listen, you can’t keep a good book nerd down and when she wants her books…SHE WANTS HER BOOKS! I hope you enjoy the ten books I selected this week. I would love nothing more than to add these beauties to my shelf. at least I have a head start on my Christmas list!
The creativity of the ladies of The Broke and the Bookish never ceases to amaze me! They’re killing it again this week with another epic Top Ten Tuesday prompt. I have a HUGE case of wanderlust and not only did I have a blast creating my list for this week but I also can’t wait to see what everyone else came up with.
I selected a mix of fantasy, contemporary and alternate history novels, as I wanted to show that even if a book isn’t set in our current time or universe, authors can still work in cities, countries, regions, landmarks and monuments that we all know and love. I love when a fantasy or alt history book can take us on a fantastic journey right in our own back yard. Let’s face it, I love when a book takes me anywhere outside my own little bubble.
I hope you enjoy the ten books I selected this week, they are some of my very faves. whether They’re Epic and Exciting or swoony and filled with feels, all of these books took me on a journey I’ll never forget.
The ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish always come up with the BEST prompts every week for their Top Ten Tuesday feature. It’s always such a fun creative exercise each week trying to come up with lists, and this week’s prompt is no exception. I absolutely LOVE this idea…share ten fun facts about yourself with your readers. What a great way to learn more about some of your favorite bloggers!
I have a confession to make, I’m on vacation this week and totally meant to write this post a couple of days ago. But, vacation mode clicked in and I completely forgot to write it. So, it’s currently 10:30 on Tuesday morning and I’m hoping I can get this post up for you guys within the hour. I mean, can you blame me? I’m currently blogging outside on the patio, it’s 75 and sunny and I have my favorite Spotify playlist on the speakers. Check it out!
OK! Back to your regularly scheduled blog post! I’M so excited to be SHARING MY TOP TEN Fun facts about…ME! Here we go…
GUYS! I just realized my Top Ten Tuesday post never went live yesterday! So, I’m posting today. So sorry for being a day late, but hopefully you guys don’t mind.
As I’ve mentioned a few times, last year was a very busy year for me! So busy in fact that there were a bunch of books that I wanted to read but just couldn’t get to! It took me a while to come up with the list of ten books below, but I think I finally narrowed it down to the ones I most desperately want to read. Looking at this list makes me so sad at first, but then I remember that I have so much great reading ahead of me! I mean, those are some pretty amazing books that I know I am going to love! I really hope I get to read them soon. Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn’t”
Has it really been more than FOUR MONTHS since I last posted a Top Ten Tuesday? Seriously, my last one was back in August! I mean, it makes sense, that was literally right before my big move back to Boston and things were really starting to get busy! I had sooo much going on, and that’s right around the time I decided to take a little blog hiatus. But, now I’m all settled in, have found a daily routine again and am ready to get back into the swing of things when it comes to blogging. Perfect timing too, with a new year right around the corner. I’ll be talking more about my plans for 2016 in a Footnotes post that I’ll be sharing on January 1st.
let’s take a look at my most anticipated books for the first half of 2016. I wasn’t able to narrow it down to ten, so I gave you twelve!
Book nerd for life!!
I haven’t ready any of the books below, except for one. The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine…and it was amazing! It comes out one week from today (January 5th) and you have to get your hands on it! It’s one of my very favorite books of 2015! Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases For The First Half of 2016”
When I first saw the prompt for this week’s top ten list, I knew immediately that I wanted to feature some of my favorite classic children’s books. There are SO many amazing books for children that were published forty, fifty, sixty…even seventy years ago, that are so visually stunning and filled with wonder and whimsy. All of the books featured below were part of my childhood library, as they were generously donated to my father by some kind person who had been holding on to them since their own children had grown! Out of all the books I had, and I had a couple hundred at the very least, the two that still stick out in my mind as favorites were The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton. Both are Caldecott Medal winners, which automatically gives them the prestige of some of the best picture books for children, and to this day I can totally see why. It took me a little while to think up a topic for this week’s list, but then I started thinking about some recent books I’ve read, and thought to myself …
“Hmmm…I wonder if other people love broken feels as much as I do?”
OF COURSE they do…right? I mean, everyone loves broken feels! Right? For example, I can’t tell you how many tweets, blog posts, Instagram pics I’ve seen where someone is talking about how a book has destroyed them or smashed their heart into little bits and pieces. I for one can totally relate, I don’t know if it’s a personality flaw that I love books that do this to me, or if it’s just something I’ve come to enjoy as an avid reader. All I know is, when I read a book that does this to me, chances are it’ll end up being a book I love. So, for that reason I decided to share some books I’ve read in the past year that have totally ruined me. For all of those readers our there who love having their feels destroyed…this one’s for you!
I came up with the list below pretty quickly, which honestly wasn’t surprising. When a book gets to you as much as these did for me, it’s not something you easily forget. Many of the books I selected are part of a series, so I decided to feature the book or books in each series that broke me the most. Not gonna lie…I had to consult my buddies on Twitter for today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic. I’ve had a lot on my plate lately and when faced with a “freebie” this week, my mind just refused to cooperate. I was drawing a blank. But have no fear, my blogging buddies came to the rescue and had some fabulous ideas!
I’d like to thank Emily over at Oh Magic Hour for suggesting I talk about the Top Ten Books from the 365 Days of YA Reading Challenge I’m most looking forward to reading! For those of you who may not be familiar, I’m co-hosting a reading challenge based off the AMAZING infographic created by Epic Reads earlier this year. The graphic is a book nerds DREAM…they break down the year into seasons, months, weeks and days; and give book recommendations for each.
I read a LOT of books in 2014! 102 to be exact, and considering I only read FOUR books in 2013, I would say that I was able to cover a lot of ground last year. I was shocked though, when I went to Goodreads to start pulling together my Top Ten list for this week and discovered just how many 2014 releases I never got to.
Before I even hit July, I had eleven books that I meant to read last year and never did. Such a sad statistic! I was finally able to work my way down to a top ten and here are my final selections.
