Spreading the Bookish Love: Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios {GIVEAWAY}

Did you guys know that the second installment in the Dark Caravan series, Blood Passage by Heather Demetrios, releases on March 1st? I was a huge fan of the first book in the series, Exquisite Captive, it was difficult, challenging, complex, magical, swoony and intense! I’m so excited to dive into book two to see where Nalia’s story goes next! BUT…before we get to that…the paperback of Exquisite Captive releases on February 2nd. As in, NEXT WEEK! You can check out my full review here, but here’s a quick snippet to give you an idea of what I thought.

What a complex and intriguing story Heather Demetrios has given us in Exquisite Captive! At times the subject matter was difficult and I found myself wondering why the main character was making some of the choices she made, but in the end I was left with a better understanding of each characters unique, and sometimes dark, complexities. The beauty of this book was that Demetrios was able to weave an imaginative and magical story while shining a light on a very real issue in society today.

Demetrios challenges us through her writing to look beyond the surface and try to understand the motives behind Nalia, the main character’s, actions. So often in real life, we are quick to judge and condemn people (women specifically) for “allowing” bad things to happen to them. Far too often we don’t take the time to look beyond the initial judgement to try to understand what’s going on and what we can do to help.

You totally want to read more, don’t you? Well you’re in luck! I’m sharing the first few chapters on the blog today, and if that isn’t enough, there’s also a fabulous giveaway hosted by Heather! Enter to win one of ten signed paperbacks of Exquisite Captive so you can get all caught up before Blood Passage releases on March 1.

Happy reading, friends!

Needless to say, I’m so thrilled to be one of the bloggers Heather invited to be part of her exclusive cover reveal for the first two books in her Dark Caravan series. I was a huge fan of the first book in the series, Exquisite Captive, it was difficult, challenging, complex, magical, swoony and intense! I’m so excited to dive into book two, Blood Passage, to see where Nalia’s story goes next!

But first, let’s check out the super quick, top three burning questions I had for Heather and her super intriguing responses. Continue reading “COVER REVEALS: Exquisite Captive and Blood Passage by Heather Demetrios {GIVEAWAY}”

Announcing: The Lexie Project by Heather Demetrios {GIVEAWAY}

Announcing: The Lexie Project by Heather Demetrios {GIVEAWAY}The Lexie Project on June 8th 2015
Genres: Contemporary, Love & Romance, Young Adult
Goodreads

Lexie Baker is ready for her close up and nobody’s gonna get in her freaking way.

Nearly a year after graduating high school and taking a hiatus from her family’s reality TV show, "Baker's Dozen: Fresh Batch," Lexie is in Los Angeles, on a mission to take Hollywood by storm. From red carpet premiers to helping her YouTube star roommate film weird videos, Lex fits right in with the droves of girls just as hungry as she is for some screen time. When Jax Wilson, a young, hot producer, offers to launch The Lexie Project, a reality show that will chronicle Lex’s adventures trying to make it as an actress in LA, she jumps at the chance. It isn’t an Oscar-winning role, but it’s a start.

Then she meets Liam, a film student who brings books to parties and is one of her twin brother’s closest friends. When it becomes clear that her brother, Benny, has a serious drinking problem—one that lands him on the front page of tabloids and threatens to get him kicked out of his university—Lexie relies on Liam to help her protect her brother. But spending time with Liam throws Lex into a spiral of self doubt: is this the life she really wants? And how far will she go for the stardom she’s always longed for?

The City of Angels soon becomes Hell on Earth and Lexie realizes that everyone—even Liam—has something they’re hiding. Fed up with Hollywood, Lexie decides she needs to find a new role to play–not the one she was cast in at birth.

The Lexie Project is a spin-off of the critically acclaimed novelized memoir, Something Real, by Heather Demetrios and features several of the major characters from the novel, including Chloe and Patrick.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL…you’re not dreaming, and yes, you read that right! One of my favorite authors, Heather Demetrios, is writing a sequel to one of my favorite books, SOMETHING REAL. This time we’re getting Lexie Baker’s memoirs told in real-time through weekly installments on Wattpad, and we’ll even get updates on our beloved Chloe and Patrick (swoon). I’m really excited for this project, as Heather has come up with a refreshing and unique way to share Lexie’s story! I can’t wait to read all about her adventures in L.A. as she tries to make it as an actress. Continue reading “Announcing: The Lexie Project by Heather Demetrios {GIVEAWAY}”

A jinni who's lost everything. A master with nothing to lose. A revolutionary with everything to gain.

When Nalia arrives in Morocco to fulfil Malek's third and final wish she's not expecting it to be easy. Though Nalia is free from the shackles that once bound her to Malek as his slave, she's in more danger than ever before.

Meanwhile, Malek's past returns with a vengeance as he confronts the darkness within himself, and Raif must decide what's more important: his love for Nalia, or his devotion to the cause of Arjinnan freedom.

Set upon by powerful forces that threaten to break her, Nalia encounters unexpected allies and discovers that her survival depends on the very things she thought made her weak. Whenever I think about this book or look at the cover, I get all giddy and excited. I absolutely LOVED Exquisite Captive and cannot wait to see what the second installment in the Blood Passage series has in store for me. If you haven’t read the first book, then you really need to get on that. It was such thought-provoking and intense read that was filled with magic, mystery and swoon. I won’t give anything away, but the fact that the story is moved from Los Angeles to Morocco in book two has me totally intrigued and I cannot wait to see how Demetrios introduces us to such a lush and romantic setting. In the meantime, I’ll be sitting over here vibrating with excitement and counting down the days until its October release! Continue reading “Waiting on Wednesday: Blood Passage by Heather Demetrios”

I’m so thrilled and honored to be sharing this post with you today, and I don’t think I could adequately explain how excited I am to be a part of the blog tour for “I’ll Meet You There” by Heather Demetrios. This book….ohhhh this book! It made me laugh, it definitely made me cry and there were so many times it made me swoon soooo hard! I’ve been a huge fan of Heather Demetrios’ since I read her debut novel Something Real last Spring and then her debut fantasy novel, Exquisite Captive, this past fall. Being the superfan that I am, I was pretty excited for the opportunity to ask Heather some questions regarding her inspiration for I’ll Meet You There.

Top Ten Tuesday: New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

You guys…only SIXTEEN days until Christmas and only ONE WEEK until Hanukkah! After that it’s like a minute until New Year’s Eve. Where has the time gone? I’m hoping that you’re all enjoying your holiday season and that where ever you may be, that you’re staying safe, happy and warm! My husband and I are currently preparing for a big storm to hit our area which always seems to happen this time of year! When the weather gets like this, all I want to do is get my wood stove roaring and curl up with a good book by an amazing author, like the ones in my top ten list today.

As some of you may know, I’m new to Young Adult books as of this year, so pretty much every author is a new author to me. I’ve read so many fantastic books in 2014 by so many fantastic authors, so it was pretty difficult for me to narrow it down to just ten! I buckled down though and managed to come up with a list of ten ridiculously talented women who are also suppppper kind to their readers! Needless to say, they’re all the perfect package…beauty, brains and sass for days!
