Clearing my Shelves…a massive giveaway! {CLOSED}

I can’t think of a better way to kick off the weekend then by holding a MASSIVE giveaway for YOU, my dear readers. It’s become pretty evident to me lately that I NEED to clear out some of the towers of ARCs I have growing throughout my house. I’m donating most of them to local charities, but I also thought it would be fun to let you guys get your hands on some. So, how’s this going to work? It’s pretty simple actually! I’ll post a photo of each ARC pack and the Rafflecopter entry form will be directly below it. You can find all of my giveaway policies here. Please make sure to read through them before entering.

Now…are you ready for the giveaways?! Let’s do this…

Footnotes: My Love/Hate Relationship with Audiobooks {GIVEAWAY}

footnotes 3

Well, would you look at this! An actual discussion post on my blog! You guys, my last one was on January 1st! And before that? August 25th. So, this is only my third discussion post in just about a year. Which kind of disappoints me, because discussion posts on other blogs are some of my favorites. I really enjoy the dialogue they create and it’s so fascinating to see other bookish folks thoughts and ideas. With all that being said, I really want to post more of them. From here on out, I’m going to try to post one discussion a month, ok? Hold me to it, you guys! I mean it.

So, What are we talking about today? Audiobooks!

One of the topics I consistently see on my Twitter feed is people’s passion for audiobooks. I love seeing my friends excitement over discovering an amazing audiobook. Especially when it’s because of an epic narrator(s)… it’s like striking gold. Don’t believe me? Continue reading “Footnotes: My Love/Hate Relationship with Audiobooks {GIVEAWAY}”

Azra has just turned sixteen, and overnight her body lengthens, her olive skin deepens, and her eyes glisten gold thanks to the brand-new silver bangle that locks around her wrist. As she always knew it would, her Jinn ancestry brings not just magical powers but the reality of a life of servitude, as her wish granting is controlled by a remote ruling class of Jinn known as the Afrit. To the humans she lives among, she's just the girl working at the snack bar at the beach, navigating the fryer and her first crush. But behind closed doors, she's learning how to harness her powers and fulfill the obligations of her destiny. Mentored by her mother and her Zar "sisters," Azra discovers she may not be quite like the rest of her circle of female Jinn . . . and that her powers could endanger them all.

I’m so excited to share the dreamy mood board I created recently that was inspired by Becoming Jinn. One thing I loved about this book was the it was set in a coastal Massachusetts town, which just so happens to be MY neck of the woods. I drew on that theme and found some images that reminded me of some of my favorite beaches and summertime memories growing up as a New England beach bum. I also found some really great images to tie in that really bring out the fantasy elements of Becoming Jinn. I think these two elements of the book combined beautifully in the image I created below, and can really give you a sense and feel of the story Lori Goldstein created.

While I was making my board, I absolutely fell in love with that little genie lamp necklace and thought it would be a fun little giveaway to include with today’s post. So, be sure to enter below for a chance to win your own little piece of genie magic!

Fangirl Friday with Erica from Bloomsbury: One for All the Coffee Lovers

I have a confession to make, it’s not something I like to share with a lot of people because I always get strange looks and judgemental eyebrows whenever I spill my secret. But I trust you guys and I know you would never judge me for something I can’t control. What is my deep, dark secret? Here’s the truth everyone…I don’t drink coffee. Yup…that’s right. No coffee for this girl…I don’t even like it. Believe me, I’ve tried dozens of times. I’ve tried coffee with tons of cream and sugar, iced coffee, macchiatos, cappuccino, frappuccinos…you name it, I’ve tried it. I really want to love coffee though! I think about how lovely it would be to sit in a coffee shop with a good book and a yummy drink. Alas, coffee and I were never meant to be.

You know who LOVES coffee? Our friend Erica at Bloomsbury does, and she’s joining us for Fangirl Friday to share all of her favorite coffee spots from around the world. So this one is for all you coffee addicts!

Fangirl Friday: It’s Only You Hoop Art

Welcome to another Fangirl Friday here at What Sarah Read! Today I’m excited to share another AMAZING Etsy find I discovered over the holidays. Last month I shared my epic discover of Craft’ed bookmarks and today I want to tell you all about It’s Only You, an adorable shop on Etsy that specializes in handmade home decor!

fangirlfriday

I stumbled across this shop while I was searching for the perfect Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. She has the kindest heart of anyone I know and is currently starting her own business. I wanted to get her something she could hang on her wall to keep her inspired and motivated. When I found these embroidered hoops I knew I had found the perfect gift for her. I ended up buying two and she absolutely loved them. Since then I have kept a close eye on the new products debuting at this shop by following its Instagram feed. After all of the great feedback I received from my readers about the Craft’ed bookmarks feature from last month, I thought I would shine the spotlight on this Etsy gem. I mean, look at all of these adorable hoops! Continue reading “Fangirl Friday: It’s Only You Hoop Art”

Seventeen-year-old Alina Chase has spent her entire life imprisoned on a secluded island—not for a crime she committed in this lifetime, but one done by her past self. Her very soul is like a fingerprint, carried from one life to the next—and Alina is sick of being guilty.Aided by three teens with their own ulterior motives, Alina manages to escape. Although she’s not sure she can trust any of them, she soon finds herself drawn to Cameron, the most enigmatic and alluring of the trio. But when she uncovers clues from her past life, secrets begin to unravel and Alina must figure out whether she’s more than the soul she inherited, or if she’s fated to repeat history.This stunning “new world” romance from acclaimed author Megan Miranda will leave readers wondering how far they would go to escape the past.

Soulprint_blogtourbanner

Welcome to the official Soulprint blog tour, hosted by Bloomsbury Publishing! Soulprint released this past Tuesday and to celebrate I’ve created a mood board that was inspired by the book and am sharing my thoughts today in a review. I want to thank the team over at Bloomsbury for inviting me to be a part of this tour, I’m a big fan of Soulprint and am excited to have the opportunity to tell all of you about it!

Soulprint

Alina has spent her whole life under the watchful eye of others, ensuring that she doesn’t fulfill the same destiny as the person who carried her soul before. As she grows older, Alina begins to realize that she’s  become a prisoner in her own world and dreams of a future outside of the four walls she’s all too familiar with. I was immediately intrigued with this story because the author built  a strong history for Alina and gives the reader a real insight as to how trapped and desperate she is to break free. I was sufficiently creeped out by the island “home” of Alina’s and the people who monitor her every move, and was just as anxious as she was to find a way out.

Thankfully, Alina is broken out of her prison by a trio of strangers who give no explanation as to why they are helping her out. The entire escape scene had me so nervous and I found myself trying to read as fast as I could because I wanted to know what was going to happen and WHY it was happening. As this trio begins their journey together and the story unfolds, we learn along with Alina that not everything is as it seems. The evolution of Alina’s individual relationships with the people she’s traveling with is an important aspect of the book, and I appreciated that they all brought something different to the story. Each character is fully formed and as the reader I appreciate that we are given the opportunity to understand the various motives flying around.

Out of all the fantastic plot points in this book, the concept of the soul passing along from person to person was the most fascinating to me. The author took that concept to a whole other level by expanding on the idea and creating a fully formed society and history around it. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, then Soulprint would be a great choice for your next read. There is so much in this story that completely threw me for a loop and was so unexpected, by the end you’re left with more questions than answers. Don’t get me wrong, you get some really big (and shocking) answers, but I love the fact that in doing so, a whole new level of craziness is discovered!

I love a book that keeps me on my toes, and Soulprint was a wild ride filled with mystery and intrigue. It’s a fast-paced, intense story about one young woman’s journey of self-discovery but with an fresh twist.
