Happy Friday, friends! It’s week two of the newly resurrected Fangirl Friday and today we have the lovely Brittany from Brittany’s Book Rambles. I’m a new fan of Brittany’s (don’t know what took me so long? Yikes!) and am thrilled to have her on the blog. Go check hers out when you get a chance not only is she an expert level gif master but her blog is absolutely gorgeous! Seriously, her blog design makes me swoon!
I’m loving Brittany’s guest post for Fangirl Friday and am hoping you discover some new to you POC authors or books that you may not have known about before. All of the books she mentions are on my TBR and I can’t wait to get to them. Especially after Brittany’s fabulous recommendations.
You guys! FANGIRL FRIDAYis back!! That’s right, I resurrected one of my favorite blog features and am so excited to tell you I have such an exciting lineup of fabulous bloggers that are ready to fangirl their hearts out!
Fun sidebar, as I sit here typing this post, I’m in the middle of my Buffy the Vampire Slayer re-watch! I’m currently on episode two of season five and loving it just as much as I did the first time. I ALMOST forgot how much I love this show. I may have to make a special extra edition of Fangirl Friday some day just so I can gush about how much I love this classic last 90’s/early 00’s television icon!
Speaking of amazing television, Andi from Andi’s ABCs is here today talk about her latest tv obsession. I have to say I’m pretty excited about this post because I was OBSESSED with this show back in the day. Reading through Andi’s post makes me want to do a re-watch of my own so I can catch the new episodes. Well, after I finish Buffy of course!
I have a confession to make, it’s not something I like to share with a lot of people because I always get strange looks and judgemental eyebrows whenever I spill my secret. But I trust you guys and I know you would never judge me for something I can’t control. What is my deep, dark secret? Here’s the truth everyone…I don’t drink coffee. Yup…that’s right. No coffee for this girl…I don’t even like it. Believe me, I’ve tried dozens of times. I’ve tried coffee with tons of cream and sugar, iced coffee, macchiatos, cappuccino, frappuccinos…you name it, I’ve tried it. I really want to love coffee though! I think about how lovely it would be to sit in a coffee shop with a good book and a yummy drink. Alas, coffee and I were never meant to be.
You know who LOVES coffee? Our friend Erica at Bloomsbury does, and she’s joining us for Fangirl Friday to share all of her favorite coffee spots from around the world. So this one is for all you coffee addicts!
I’m so excited for today’s post you guys! It’s the very first installment of my new and improved Fangirl Friday feature here on the blog! A month or so ago I put out the call for fellow bloggers, readers, authors and other bookish types to take over my blog to fangirl about their favorite things! I was so thrilled with the response and am excited for all of the guest posters I have lined up for the next SIX MONTHS!
For the very first Fangirl Friday I’m welcoming the fabulous and super sweet Ellice from Paper Riot! She’s here today to fangirl about her latest obsession, bookish artwork from Etsy! Ellice is a woman after my own heart and her guest post has me ready to spend some money!! Soooo…take it away Ellice!
Welcome to another Fangirl Friday here at What Sarah Read! Today I’m excited to share another AMAZING Etsy find I discovered over the holidays. Last month I shared my epic discover of Craft’ed bookmarks and today I want to tell you all about It’s Only You, an adorable shop on Etsy that specializes in handmade home decor!
I stumbled across this shop while I was searching for the perfect Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. She has the kindest heart of anyone I know and is currently starting her own business. I wanted to get her something she could hang on her wall to keep her inspired and motivated. When I found these embroidered hoops I knew I had found the perfect gift for her. I ended up buying two and she absolutely loved them. Since then I have kept a close eye on the new products debuting at this shop by following its Instagram feed. After all of the great feedback I received from my readers about the Craft’ed bookmarks feature from last month, I thought I would shine the spotlight on this Etsy gem. I mean, look at all of these adorable hoops! Continue reading “Fangirl Friday: It’s Only You Hoop Art”→
Happy Friday! I’m back with another edition of Red Carpet Review and this time I have a VERY special guest…
That’s right…our very own Andi from Andi’s ABCs, everyone’s favorite book nerd and fashionista! Seriously, if you’re not following her Instagram then you are missing out on her daily outfit photos. I am so jealous of this woman’s closet! She’s also pretty famous for her outfit and book/character pairings! She’s dressed Celaena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series and Maya Henry from Jesse’s Girl, as well as selected holiday dresses for some of our favorite YA characters! Simply put, she’s one of the most fashionable people I know.
Naturally, she was the first person I thought of when I started brainstorming my red carpet feature and I’m so thrilled she’s joining me today to talk Grammy fashion and again in a couple of weeks to recap the Oscars! Let’s do this Andi!!
Happy Friday friends!! Hope you all have fabulous plans for the weekend that include donuts, time with your bestie and lots of reading!! I for one am headed to my BFFs house for our annual Superbowl weekend! It’s an event we look forward to every year, involving shopping all morning and most of the afternoon and then we head home to watch the big game! Good times!
Speaking of big annual events…it’s awards season! One of my favorite times on the celebrity calendar, because I get to camp out on the couch in my pajamas, and silently judge millionaires for their fashion choices! Last weekend was the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which are actually one of my favorite awards since it’s the actor’s voting for their best of the best! It’s usually a little less stuffy fashion wise from the Oscars which makes things more fun as well.
We’ll start off from my favorites of the bunch! As you can see I really gravitate towards unique patterns paired with interesting cuts OR on the other end of the spectrum, I love me some classic, sleek dresses that stand on their own. If I HAD to pick a favorite from below I would have to go with Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black in that amazing black and white striped dress, OR Joanne Froggatt from Downtown Abbey in the sleek black strapless number! Hair and make-up are ON POINT for both of these ladies and I just loved their whole look!
For the most part I was pretty underwhelmed with the SAG Awards Red Carpet this year. Too many “meh” dresses that I wasn’t so sure about. The one’s that stick out in my mind are below. There’s a lot of things I LOVE about these dresses but there’s just something that made me pause about each of them. For example…LOVE Julia’s pantsuit but the hem is WAY too long! I ADORED the color of Julianna’s electric blue dress, but was not a fan of that draping in the front. That plum color looks insanely good on Kiera but I typically don’t like tiered dresses.
Finally we have the misses, and they were some pretty big misses! At least in my book! Most of the dresses below don’t fit well or are a terrible shape…or I just plain didn’t like them!
Do you love awards season as much as I do? What are some of your hits and misses from the dresses above?
ALSO…Don’t miss Fangirl Friday on February 13th where I talk about the 2015 Grammy fashions with a very special (and VERY fashionable) guest blogger! Let me know who you think will be joining me in the comments below!
Attention all bloggers, readers, authors, publishers and book lovers of the world! Have I got a special announcement just for you!
Fangirl Friday is getting a Makeover!
I’ve been so inspired by two of my blogging buddies, Andi and Brittany, and their special features, that I thought I would take that inspiration and put a little twist on my Fangirl Friday installments here on What Sarah Read! As many of you know, Andi from Andi’s ABCs and Brittany from The Book Addicts Guide each have their own fun features on their blogs where they invite other people to stop by and share a guest post about a specific topic. Andi has The ABCs in which guest posters share their favorite accessories, books and clothes, while Brittany has Book and a Beverage in which she has a little Q&A with each person featuring their current read along with their favorite beverage. Genius right? It’s seriously two of my very favorite blog features out there right now.
By now you all know how much I love to fangirl, and even more so, how much I love to fangirl with other people! So I thought it would be fun to turn Fangirl Friday into a group project! Here’s the deal! Each week I’ll feature a guest poster here on the blog, in which they can fangirl about any little thing their heart desires.

You can imagine my glee when I stumbled upon the shop for Craft’ed…a gloriously quirky and adorable store of handmade magnetic bookmarks.
