Breaking News!! The Glittering Court Paperback Release! The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
Published by Razorbill on March 28th 2017

Big and sweeping, spanning from the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies who appear destined for powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training, and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and then when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands…

I’m so excited to be taking part in the festivities celebrating the paperback release of “The Glittering Court” by Richelle Mead. I read this book last year and absolutely loved it. But, before I share my review and mood board from last year, I thought I’d take you a re-enactment of my reading experience of “The Glittering Court” through a series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer gifs. Why Buffy? I mean, do I really need a reason?

A Buffy gifset experience of “The Glittering Court”

At first the “Bride for Sale” concept made me all…

But then I realized that there was so much more to it than that…

i see what you’re doing here

TheSE LADIES were motivated, gutsy and seriously crafty…

I was rooting for theM…

go, fight, win

AND By the end of the book I was all, GIRL POWER!

so badass

Here’s an excerpt of my review from last year…

In a word, I LOVED ‘The Glittering Court’, LOVED it! It’s everything I want in a book…drama, adventure, intrigue, secrets, romance and danger! From the very beginning I was invested in Adelaide’s journey from pampered and sheltered young woman living in an opulent world to a mysterious no-name fighting to find her place in the world. Her desire to break free from the future that is laid out before her is authentic and believable, and as you follow along on her journey you begin to realize exactly how determined she is to forge a new path. I couldn’t help but become deeply invested in her success. Adelaide is a mix of feisty and determined balanced with a healthy dose desperation and cunning.

At first I was a little put off by the whole “bride for sale” concept, but quickly discovered that there was more than met the eye when it came to some of these women. The social commentary was a subtle but important aspect of this book, and I enjoyed how Mead turned what could be an unappealing plot point and turned it into a catalyst for these women to demand more from those around them, and more importantly, of themselves. Basically, these sisters were doing it for themselves.

  1. I am super excited for this. Thank you for the giveaway. I am new to the Glittering Court. I have never read any books by Richelle Mead either. My friend just recently read this book and said she enjoyed it so I thought I would try it too.
