Fangirl Friday with Ginger from GReads!

I’m so, so, SO excited to be welcoming my boo Ginger from GReads! to the blog today! I absolutely adore this woman and will never be able to find enough words to properly thank her for inspiring and encouraging me to start my own blog! She’s the sweetest person you’ll ever meet and is always a ray of sunshine! Speaking of sunshine, Ginger is here today to fangirl all about her favorite thing ever…SUMMER! When you say Ginger, I think summer, and it’s so appropriate that she’s here today sharing all of her fave summertime goodies! Let’s hear it for Ginger!

Hello & Happy Summer!  When Sarah opened up her Fangirl Friday feature to other bloggers, asking them to share something they’ve been fangirling over, I knew right away what my post would be about: SUMMERTIME!  It’s my most favorite time of the year.  I long for the lazy days spent by the pool, packing my suitcase for the next grand adventure, or sipping on sweet summery drinks.  And let’s not forget about all those summer contemps that I devour page after page!  So for today’s Fangirl Friday, I decided to share with you all my Summertime Faves.

  1. I love a good summertime cocktail or ale and have been craving all things grapefruit this season.  My most favorite cocktail right now involves Deep Eddy grapefruit vodka.  It’s distilled right here in Texas and tastes fabulous mixed with a little champagne and a dash of lime.  I’ve also come across a grapefruit ale that tastes great poolside, or anytime!
  2. Even though it’s extremely hot here in southern Texas during the summer (imagine living in a swamp!), I still try to be outside as much as possible.  Throw on some sunscreen, hand me a book, and I am ready to go!  I’m lucky to live close to the Gulf coast and try to venture down there as often as I can.  If a trip isn’t possible, there’s always the pool.
  3. My summer is not complete without the proper reading materials.  A favorite series of all-time, which just so happens to be set during the summer, is The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han.  It’s full of growing up, falling in love, all while living those long days of summer by the shore.  Sarah Dessen‘s Along for the Ride is another summertime fave for me, a book I reread this summer in fact.  And a new summertime fave I just encountered belongs to The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler.  All really great summery YA contemps that I can’t recommend enough.
  4. A girl can never have enough summer essentials and this summery scent from Bath & Body Works is one of my favorites: Endless Weekend.  I’m all for pedicures and adore this essie color for my toes.  It goes great with all my summer footwear attire: sandals & flip flops!

I also threw in a photo of myself because I just recently chopped off 10 inches of hair!  Yup, that much.  It feels so great too!!  I loved my long locks, but figured it was time to say goodbye.  Living in all this heat, my head thanks me too, haha.

Thank you so much, Sarah, for allowing me to share my most favorite season of the year: SUMMER!!  I fangirl for this time of year and everything that goes with it.  I’ll be crying in my grapefruit cocktail come the end of August when it’s back to the classroom and reality sets in again.  Until then, bring on the summery YA contemps and sunshine!

  1. Reading by the beach/pool sounds amazingly good! It’s the best part of summer!

  2. Thank you so much for having me, Sarah! It was a blast sharing all the reasons why I love summertime. I probably could have gone one & on, haha. Love you & your blog! xo

  3. Oh my gosh, I don’t even like Summer that much (I know, I know!) but ah this is an amazing post. And those picturessss, they’re so gorgeous and perfect! And you look pretty as well! 🙂

I’ll have to try that cocktail you listed, even though I don’t like grapefruit too much, it just looks so pretty! I decide my drinks by how pretty they are. 😉

The Gulf coast looks so pretty.

I want to read The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, especially since I’ve recently obtained it. And The Summer of Chasing Mermaids. 🙂

Bath & Body Works is amazing! I love buying from there.

When you begin crying, I’ll start rejoicing, I’m a big fall person myself. Still, this post makes me wish I could change my ways. Fantastic fangirling, Ginger!
