Top Ten Tuesday: Beach Reads

It’s been a little bit since I’ve posted a Top Ten Tuesday. It’s a bit of an understatement to say that my life has been a huge blur since May 1st. I moved, started a new job, had a pretty major family emergency (which is thankfully in a better place)…all while trying to keep up with my blog schedule, my reading schedule and prepping for BEA!

This week’s topic is perfect though, cause after a month like this, I’m going to need some quality time sitting on a beach, with a book, relaxing and doing nothing. After BEA this week I just want to be lazy and these books are perfect reads for lounging in a beach chair! As you can see from the selection below, I’m a fan of swoon when it comes to my summer beach bag! So prepare your feels!

Proof of Forever / My Life Next Door / Open Road Summer
The Fill-In Boyfriend / All Broke Down / FANGIRL
Nowhere But Here / Where the Stars Still Shine

What about You? What are some of your favorite summer reads?

  1. Grrreat list! 🙂 I love that you’ve mixed genres there! Fangirl and ACOTAR are the only ones I’ve read from your list but Open Road Summer is on my TBR list and I’ve heard pretty nice things about the other books too 🙂 Where the Stars Still Shine has a such a pretty cover – I just want to read it even though I have no idea what it’s about haha.

  2. I have only read Fangirl but there are so many on there from my TBR. All the ones with couple on the cover scream sum mer and beach reads to me. Great list!

  3. I have read most of the books on your list and I loved them all! I still need to read Open Road Summer it looks so good *drool*

  4. Looks great to me,
I need to read a few of these myself because they look great!

  5. I read My Life Next Door last summer during my beach vacation, so I can also vouch for its perfection as a beach read.!!!

  6. Love your choices! ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ was fantastic, I really loved it. I hope you enjoy it and get some time to relax and read!

  7. You have several that are on my TBR. I am reading Throne of Glass this summer and am going to try holding out for A Court of Thorns and Roses until more books are released. Happy summer reading!

  8. JJ

I am hoping to read A Court of Thorns and Roses this summer too.

  9. I’m so excited for ACOTAR! I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

  10. SO many good books on your list! The Fill In Boyfriend is definitely on the top of my TBR as of late though, and i think it’d make a great beach read as well! awesome TTT post this week!

  11. I want to read all of these!!! I’ve not read Rainbow Rowell yet though I’ve got all of her books. I can’t decide which to read first! My Life Next Door I’ve seen a lot and I’m really intrigued. Great list 😀

  12. I’ve read about 6 of these and can vouch for their beach-worthiness! My Life Next Door and Open Road Summer especially. ACOTAR and Nowhere But Here are two I hope to read soon too. Happy summer reading, Sarah! Hope you have a blast at BEA 🙂

  13. Fangirl is easily one of my favorite contemporaries! 🙂

    Check out my TTT.

  14. Oh gosh, so many of these are on my TBR, actually all besides Where the Stars Still Shine and Fangirl, but I’ve read the latter and the first one sounds great so I’m adding it now. Also, that cover is gorgeous. The one I honestly can’t wait to read from your list is A Court of Thorns and Roses. I heard so many amazing things about the author from my best friend, and while Throne of Glass is not something I’m interested in ACOTAR sounds like my kind of book.
    Lovely list! 🙂

  15. Great picks Sarah!!! I adored A Court of Thorns and Roses! I hope you enjoy these 🙂 Here’s my TT if you would like to check it out 🙂 Have a great day!

  16. Fangirl is great (for obvious reasons) and I am planning on reading ACOTAR this summer because EVERYONE is reading it and absolutely loving it! I just need to understand the hype.

  17. Great list! I will definitely have to read A Court of Thorns and Roses over vacation, considering it is one of the hottest books of the summer (see what I did there?). I also have to read Open Summer Road and Emery Lord’s other books. I am going to have a busy summer reading all of these books!

  18. Great list! I can’t wait for Proof of Forever. It sounds really good and I recently heard that it’s like a time travel contemporary which I think is wicked awesome. The Fill In Boyfriend sounds great too!

  19. Oh no! I’m sorry about your family. 🙁 I’m glad that situation’s doing better though, that’s horrible. You have definitely been busy in between all of that! And oh my gosh, BEA. That’s so awesome! I hope you have fun.

The Fill-In boyfriend, Open Road Summer and My Life Next Door all made my list! I have no idea why Fangirl didn’t though. I obviously need to read that book and what better time than summer?

Some of my favorite summer reads that I’ve read are We Were Liars and Pretty Little Liars. Dangerous Girls was also appealing when I’d started reading it in the fall, yet never finished it (not because it was bad).

Other books I want to read but haven’t are Huntley Fitzpatrick’s “What I Thought Was True”, Emery Lord’s “The Start of Me and You”, The Secrets We Keep, The Devil You Know, Damage Done, Pretending To Be Erica and Morgan Matson’s three contemporaries. 🙂

  20. Proof of Forever and Fangirl are ones I’ve added to my wishlist recently. Enjoy your summer reads… they all look really good!

  21. I loved Open Road Summer, and I included it on my list this week.

I’m going to read My Life Next Door this summer if it’s one of the last things I do. It’s been on my shelf for over a year now.

  22. I loved “Fangirl!” I’m yet to read “The Fill-In Boyfriend,” but I’ve read 2 other of West’s book and I loved them book so I can’t wait to read that one. I want to read “Open Road Summer,” at the moment I’m reading “The Start of Me and You” by the same author and I’m loving it so far. And of course I can’t wait for ACOTAR.

The one part I’ll disagree with you on is “My Life Next Door.” I thought that book was terrible. (my review of it on GoodReads: )

  23. Great choices!! All these titles scream beach reads!! I am dying to read A Court of Thorns and Roses!
